Simple Joy Sunday

Probably about a year ago (maybe more), I was inspired to start writing this series of blog posts by Mrs. Dragon & Cool Zebras.  I think they both may have stopped writing them, but I'd like to pick it up again.  I think it's important to notice the little things and take note of what makes you happy.

I had a fairly low key week, but here are a few things that gave me joy...

I'm really not that much of a cook.  Basically, I cook because I like to eat.  This week, I made a few tasty meals that I actually enjoyed making and even more so enjoyed eating.  I used some of my fresh herbs and infused the meals with loving intent that they taste good and provide us with nourishment & leftovers.  =)

This is going to sound nuts, but... cleaning the windows.  It's starting to get really nice out down here in Florida & it will be the rainy season before we know it so I took advantage of it and cleaned (with my homemade glass cleaner) all of the windows & French doors in the house inside & out.  The joy didn't come with the cleaning, but with the sparkling afterward.

Reorganizing & purging my workroom has been an ongoing process for the past couple of months.  This week, I tackled a closet and realized that I have more display stuff than I thought I had.  So much of it will be perfect for craft shows & markets when I get my apothecary up & running.

I made myself a simple necklace with a leather string & pewter beads.  It's certainly nothing fancy, but it's just my style & made me happy.

I started my blog up again this week & started rejoining the forums I belong to!  It's so nice to start being social again.  I really needed that time away but I'm so glad to be back.  I've missed everyone so much!

Daydreaming off and on about my forthcoming herb garden has made me happy this week.  I've been playing with ideas of themes: a Shakespeare garden, a moonlight garden, magickal, edible, medicinal...  There are so many options!  And, honestly, I might have a little section of each.

What were some of your simple joys this week?  Comment here or if you do your own Simple Joy Sunday blog post, link back over here and let me know so I can share the link in this blog post.

Simple Joy Sunday

Finding the simple joys each week...

Being reamed out for stupid shit by the evil boss lady this week motivated me to look into my union's work program again. I also had a dream where a friend of mine asked me "What about the soap opera?" What that translated to in my conscious mind was "You've always worked in theatre, how about trying tv?" It's something to look into...

A work friend brought me a jalapeno plant that he grew for me. All he did was stick a pepper in soil. The plant's beautiful!

Scott & I decided that since there is absolutely nothing going on at work for the next couple of weeks, that we'd take some of our vacation time. It was pretty much a last minute decision so I lost out on the looking forward to taking the time off bit, but it's such a relief knowing that I don't have to go to work next week. I don't know if we're going to be able to run away at all, but we are planning on getting some stuff done around the house and maybe even some relaxing.

Simple Joy Sunday

Obviously I'm still trying to get into the swing of things with my blogging. Between house guests and work getting extremely stressful (yes, threats of layoffs. again.), it's pretty much fallen by the wayside. I'm trying to fix that....

Finding the simple joys each week...

Driving home from work late one night, I got to watch an amazing light show compliments of Mother Nature. The lightening was gorgeous and so bright that it was blinding.

Scott & I went to check out the new A-Team movie this week. It was so much fun. You kind of have to turn off your brain at the door, but if you're an old school fan like I am, you'll have a blast.

In the middle of mowing the lawn the other day, Scott called me outside. There was an adorable tortoise wandering through the yard! Of course I wanted to play with it, but I refrained. I kind of just hung out watching it for a bit. He stuck out his head and checked me out. I tried to run inside for my camera, but by the time I got back he was gone. So cute!

I spent some time tending to my herbs. They were in much need of attention, but I also really enjoy it. I'm moving my mint and lemon balm (member of the mint family) to the side of the house where they will get more shade. I'm hoping that will help because the poor mint plant in particular is not doing well. Actually, I thought of planting an entire mint garden on that side of the house. The soil there stays pretty moist and it doesn't get much sun because of my neighbor's tree, so it might be the perfect mint environment. We'll see.

I also decided to do a little herbal experiment. My lemongrass is growing like crazy so I wanted to do something with it. I took some of it and some rosemary and put it into a pint jar with some white vinegar. In theory, in a few weeks I should have some herbal deodorant. Finger crossed!! I would love for it to work.

In playing with my herbs I discovered a frog living in my yarrow. Actually, he may be a toad (he was rather warty). I think it's adorable that I have this little guy living in my herb garden!! Plus, he'll help take care of some bugs. The next day, I went out to water my herbs and didn't see him. The yarrow was looking a little dry, so I watered it fairly liberally. Then, out of nowhere, the dirt exploded and the toad popped out and was hanging by the edge of the pot. I felt so bad! I wasn't trying to drown the poor little guy!! I had no idea that he was completely buried in the soil. lol. Later that night, he was burrowed in the lemongrass.

Thanks to my boss being a dipshit and the possibility of layoffs, I've felt stressed out beyond belief this week. Actually, I'm feeling like I'm on the verge of panic attacks like last summer when they laid off 20 people. Not good. I thought this would be a good time for me to start taking my herbal nerve tonic infusion again. I'm so happy that I have something that I can turn to that will help me feel better. I have to start doing more yoga, too. That's also an amazing solace for me.

Simple Joy Sunday

Finding the simple joys each week...

Athena's Armoury was included in a fantastic medieval Etsy Treasury.

This week's Herb Society meeting was bittersweet: it was a great meeting where we talked about tea making, but it's the last time we meet until the fall. I'll tell you more about the meeting in a separate post later this week.

Playing poolside. Enjoying the sun.

I spent a really great few hours yesterday among friends at a soap making workshop. I think figured out what I did wrong when I tried a few months ago, so I really want to try doing it again. I hung out with a few friends from the Herb Society and met a new one, too. The woman running the workshop even gave us a jar of mulberry jam that she made fresh from the fruit on her tree. When I left the meeting, I saw a produce stand by the side of the road so of course I had to stop. I picked up some amazingly fresh nectarines, lemons, strawberries, and watermelon.

In other news, there are so many expensive things that I want/need to do! I am in serious need of upgrading my coil cutting system, I would absolutely love to apprentice with Rosemary Gladstar (it's her herbal correspondence course that I'm taking), and I kind of need to get a new cell phone. Just curious: where does the $ come from? =(

Simple Joy Sunday

Finding the simple joys each week...

Despite being slightly perturbed that my truck didn't start this week, it turned into a simple joy when I saw the technician that AAA sent: it was a woman! Being the woman warrior that I am, I am always thrilled to see women working in fields that are dominated by men. She inspired this Woman Warrior blog post.

Scott and I have this thing: we love to go to the movies, but we hate dealing with the insane crowds on the weekends. We've started going on the Monday night after opening weekend instead. It's perfect: there's usually hardly anyone there! So, on Monday night after work we went out. I *found* a gift card on the street a few months back to Maggiano's (an Italian restaurant), so we went there for dinner: for free! Then, we hit the Imax theater in St. Pete to see Iron Man. I highly recommend it, it was a lot of fun (definitely check out the first one, too). It was so gorgeous out after the movie, that we stopped as the local beer garden for a drink. They had some great blues music playing, there was a warm, gentle breeze, the beer was cold, and the greenery in the garden was beautiful. It was such a nice evening!!

I had yet another thoroughly enjoyable evening last night! Scott went off to play games with his friends leaving me to my own devices at home with the cat. I made some green iced tea with lemongrass and mint from my herb garden -- it so refreshing and tasty. I sat outside on the lanai reading my book and eating seaweed salad and sushi. Then Jack the cat and I came back inside to crash on the couch and get caught up on The Tudors. It was such a nice way to spend the night.

Simple Joy Sunday

Finding the simple joys each week...

First of all, a big Happy Mother's Day to all of the moms out there! You've got a hell of a job and certainly deserve this holiday. I hope you enjoy it!!

This may sound ridiculous, but it was so nice to go to Costco on Monday after work and not have to battle my way through the aisles or wait 20 minutes to pay. I could actually wander and take my time looking at things. It really drives me nuts to deal with people when the place is packed. So, mark your calendars and keep it on DL: apparently, Monday night is a good time to go to Costco! Even more Costco happiness: I got a tremendous bag of Miracle Grow potting soil for only $10 and I picked up this beautiful Sabal Palm.

I put together a little gift for my mom:
I got the cute little teacup planter from Michael's on sale and the lantana plant is actually quite prevalent in the wild in Florida. I added some little hot pink and deep purple flowers to my mom's cup while I made one for myself with just the lantana. I've read mixed reports of the medicinal use of the lantana plant, so at this point I'm just considering it a pretty addition to the container garden. I also treated myself to a stevia plant. If you've never tasted a leaf from the stevia plant: after about three or four chews, it tastes so sweet you'd think you were eating candy. It's a great addition to teas.

My witchy work friend cracks me up. Whenever she treats herself to something new, I get bequeathed with the old. In the past, it's been stones & crystals, tarot cards, and fairy & pentacle pendants. This week, she gave me yet another pentacle pendant and it's just beautiful! It's actually double sided: one side is pretty simple with a yin/yang at the center; the other side has a yin/yang, too, but there are also gemstones at each of the points of the star. I think I have to make her some chakra chain maille or something as a thank you.

Foodie simple joys this week include: fresh strawberries (yum!) and an absolutely amazing Cuban sandwich (double yum).

I'm also thrilled to share with you that there's been some activity in Athena's Armoury! I sold my Feminine Warrior Handflower from my Artfire shop and am talking to someone about making a custom one from my Etsy shop. After no activity for a few months, this is very exciting! Maybe a strange little coincidence, but exciting nonetheless.

Simple Joy Sunday

Finding the simple joys each week...

Scott's birthday was this week! We both had to work most of the day, but went out afterward. We drove over to Orlando and went to a couple of geeky stores that he likes and then over to Universal City Walk for dinner. I think we both had a really nice time!

I had a thoroughly enjoyable evening last night. I grabbed a glass (or three) of wine, finished my book, started a new one, and went for an evening swim in the pool. I think I need to do that more often.

Finding the simple joys each week...

I got do a whole bunch of fun crafty stuff this week as I finished making preparations for my market event for my 3 Day fundraising. I had so much fun playing with paper, glitter glue, yarn, etc! Yeah, it was for a purpose, but it's so much fun being creative for creativity's sake.

As usual, the Herb Society meeting made me happy. I made a new friend and may be able to take a soap making class with her. I'm really excited about the class since I still have not mastered the art of soap making.

Again, this is 3 Day related & will be included in tomorrow's progress report in more detail, but I just wanted to say... I had so much fun fundraising at the Tampa Downtown Market on Friday! And then when I got home, I iced my feet, had a beer, and read some of my book. It was such a great day!!

I've been insanely busy for the last few weeks, so now that my mom's visit is over, I think (I HOPE!!!) things might be evening out with my feet (I just need the inflammation to go down so I can start training again), and my first big market event for the 3 Day is done, I'm feeling so much better. I slept a solid ten hours after the market and woke up feeling so much more refreshed than I have in a while.

I spent the day on Saturday lounging around the house, reading, repotting herbs, making myself a breast cancer awareness chain maille bracelet to wear out, doing pilates..... It was the relaxing, do nothing day that I've been craving. It was so nice to do all of those things and thoroughly enjoy them.

My herbs were in such dire need of attention. I had basil and dill that needed to be repotted and the new herbs that I got from the Herb Society meeting this week needed homes: I've added a nasturtium, some lettuce, Tulsi (or Holy Basil), and Perilla to my herb garden. Unfortunately, I also discovered mealybugs on my lemon balm -- I am none too happy about that. Regardless, it was so nice to spend some time with my greenlings.

Saturday night, Scott & I went to see a band play. It was so much fun actually getting dressed to go out on a Saturday night! That may sound kind of lame, but with our work schedules, we almost never get a chance to go out on a date nonetheless a date on the weekend. It was so much fun!

Simple Joy Sunday

Finding the simple joys each week...

aaaahhhhhhh... peace and quiet. Having house guests (no matter how easy going they may be) are a lot of work. I love having time to myself and that just hasn't happened for the last couple of weeks, so when it finally did this week.... oh, it was just wonderful. I had the house all to myself for a couple of hours to just veg out. It was such a beautiful thing.

I won the lotto! Actually, I just won a free ticket but it's better than nothing, right?

I really wanted to check out the art show down in St. Pete on Saturday, but my feet informed me otherwise (more on my feet with Monday's 3 Day Progress Report). So, instead I took out all kinds of crafty supplies (paper, glitter glue, yarn, stickers, ribbon) and started working on raffle & donation jars as well as some tent decorations for my market event this week for the 3 Day. Yeah, this is 3 Day related so it really should go in Monday's post, but I had such a fun time playing and being crafty I just had to include it here!

Finding the simple joys each week...

I went to the beach this twice week and thoroughly enjoyed bathing in the warmth of the sun. There was a lovely breeze, so it was actually quite comfortable sitting on the sand. The Gulf doesn't feel like it's warmed up much yet, but that didn't stop me from getting in if only just the one time.

I also really enjoyed wandering around Downtown Dunedin and Safety Harbor. Those areas have such character and there's always something going on.

Simple Joy Sunday

Finding the simple joys each week...

I was seriously having pain and even more frustration earlier this week. My feet were killing me and I was having issues finding a comfortable pair of sneakers for The 3 Day. My sweetie really stepped up. He treated us to a really yummy pizza, made me an Epsom salt foot bath, and was just all around a really supportive guy. It may not sound like much but that was a huge simple joy for me this week.

Simple Joy Sunday

Finding the simple joys each week...

Fresh strawberries. I love fresh strawberries. Strawberries made me happy this week.

I managed to catch a 50% off sale of an Etsy shop that carries packaging supplies. I placed an order for a bunch of stuff to play with for my herbal concoctions. I have a few ideas of some products that I'd love to start carrying, so I really need to work out the details like this.

My honey recently started working on the shelves he's custom building for his office.... ahem.... game library. He's been working on them off and on since we moved into the house two years ago. Needless to say, I'm thrilled that he started working on them again: I can't wait to get all of the boxes of games (yeah, he's got literally hundreds) out of the dining room.

My yarrow is starting to blossom!! I've had it since last summer and this is the first time that I've seen little white heads starting to bud. I can't wait to see it flower!

After working two really long days, I didn't have to go in on Friday. I spent the majority of the day cleaning the house in preparation for my mom's visit later this week. Yeah, house cleaning sucks but it really does make me happy to have the place clean (I know OCD). On top of that, usually by the time I'm done with that much work I'm ready to collapse on the couch. Not this time! I was still feeling really good and went for a training walk. I'm really happy to see my energy levels are up. It's amazing what a good attitude and some regular exercise will do!

Saturday was absolutely gorgeous out! I had all of the windows open and was thoroughly enjoying the fresh air while I spent the day working on my new Pink Warrior Chain Maille Collection. I got a few pieces done and hope to either get some more done today or get the already finished pieces photographed. It's coming along!

Finding the simple joys each week...

I received a huge batch of herbs for Lesson 2 of my herbalism course. I'll be making some herbal oils and salves and taste testing for my herbal reference file. My work room is being overrun by herbs! Maybe I'll spend some time today rearranging the shelving in my closet where I store them...

I met up with a friend from the Herb Society yesterday and went to a Green Fest over near the beach. It wasn't a very big event, but a really lovely way to spend a few hours outside in gorgeous weather and being social. A few of the vendors were fellow Herb Society members, so it was nice to see so many of us out. I got to talking to one woman about a patch in my yard that is covered by my neighbor's tree and the land is lower than theirs so it gets all of their rain, too. Needless to say, grass won't grow there so I was wondering if there might be some herbs that would. She recommended mint and happened to have a lavender mint plant that smelled amazing. We'll see how it goes!

My mom sent down a HUGE loaf of Irish Soda Bread. She's an excellent cook & baker so it's a real treat.

Come visit tomorrow for an update on my 3 Day experiences!

Simple Joy Sunday

Finding the simple joys each week...

Well, my joys this week have really been about the 3 Day, so you're going to have to wait until my Progress Report tomorrow to find out!

I don't know if this is good news yet, but I heard another rumor at work. This one says that the folks in the Ivory Tower have deemed that it's not possible to have another large batch of layoffs. It sounds like good news, I guess I just don't trust it yet. March is the end of a quarter, so I guess we'll see what happens this month. In the meantime, I'm still getting a paycheck.

Simple Joy Sunday

Finding the simple joys each week...

This was another week where my work schedule was pretty nuts. I was dealing with a show that was an absolute train wreck to advance (the show is today, so we'll see if the stupid carries on) and some corporate B.S. that has absolutely no place in theatre. That said, most of my simple joys this week were just that: simple.

The Cheesecake Factory's massive salads. I was craving a salad with tons of stuff on it and this fit the bill. It made my mouth and belly so happy.

I woke up to a Dice Bag sold in my Artfire Studio. Always a nice way of starting the day.

I usually like to have a few Dice Bags in stock because they've been a best seller for me but I sent out my last one recently and hadn't had a chance to restock yet. So, out I pulled my wire and mandrels to coil and then my Koil Kutter to cut up the coils. The blade in the Kutter was starting to get worn down, so I replaced it before I started. I cut through one coil and was moving onto my second when the blade snapped and I had the broken piece and rings flying. I cut my rings inside of a box in order to keep the dust contained and on occasion when the rings fall out of their holder, but nothing like this has ever happened. It was crazy and I was so grateful that there was no harm done.

I spent some time shopping for herbs for Lesson Two of my herbalism course at Mountain Rose Herbs. As any crafter or artist will tell you, supply shopping is always fun!

I acted like a big kid and went out for a drink after work. When I was on the road, it was a given. Your show comes down, you go to the bar for a drink. Since I've had a house gig (still in theatre, but working in one place) it hasn't happened that often, so it's fun when it does.

Yesterday, I was at work all day but managed to escape for a little while to check out the big annual art show in the park. The weather was absolutely gorgeous and there was so much beautiful work to look at. It was wonderful breathing it all in. I miss being surrounded by that culture. Plus, I treated myself to a Peruvian Turquoise and sterling silver ring. I find that oftentimes, the jewelry at art shows is usually so polished and refined that it almost looks machine made. Obviously it's not at an art show and it is exquisite, it's just not necessarily my taste. I tend to like work that's a little rougher around the edges, a bit more bohemian or even industrial. So when I found this one artist and a piece that was totally affordable, it was a no brainer. It's beautiful and I love it.

Simple Joy Sunday

Finding the simple joys each week...

I started preparing for the 3 Day this week. A full update on this week's progress is coming on Monday! But in the meantime: my Personal Page at the 3 Day website went live this week! Squeee!

I spent some time working on Lesson Two of my herbalism course which always makes me happy. My hope was to be able to get through a lesson a month, so I'm running a little behind schedule. I still have some reading to do with this lesson in addition to researching the materia medica, making a few herbal projects (have to order the herbs for that), and my homework. I blame it on February being such a short month!

I listed my FAEteam monthly challenge. I'll show it off in a separate post, but suffice to say that I'm thrilled that I've been inspired enough to create something for the challenge two months in a row. That may not sound like much, but after the past year's lack of creativity it's really huge and I'm very pleased.

I made some more lavender honey. I just have to wait three weeks for the herbs to work their magic. I love the stuff!

The bad news of the week: I heard yet another rumor and almost definitively that there will be layoffs next month (as in tomorrow). The good news (if you can call it such given the circumstances): it's upsetting me, but I'm not quite freaking out like I did over the summer. All we can do now is wait.

Simple Joy Sunday

Finding the simple joys each week...

Scott had to work all day on Valentine's Day, so we really weren't able to spend any time together then at all. So, on Monday night when I got home from work we went out for a belated Valentine's Day dinner. Somehow, he always manages to make things special.

So, what did I do on Valentine's Day by myself? Well, I spent the majority of the day researching (ahem, obsessing) the Susan G. Komen 3 Day Breast Cancer Walk. Finally, I had to get out of my head, so I made some herbal candy. It was actually really fun!

Driving home from work this week, I saw an eagle. I've never seen one not in a zoo before. It was a real treat. Talk about a beautiful creature. It was stunning.

As usual, I had a nice time at this month's Herb Society meeting where we talked about herbal dyes.

Every once in a while my faith in human kindness is renewed. I stopped at Whole Foods to pick up some fresh fruit and was standing in line to pay. The woman in front of me was taking forever when the guy behind me put his things down and ran away. He came back and handed me one of my reusable produce bags. He said he noticed it on the floor in the produce section and then saw me carrying them in the check out line. I didn't even realize that I had dropped one. Wasn't that sweet of him?

I spent some time searching for glass jars and bottles at thrift stores this week for my herbal concoctions and found some really great stuff for cheap. Perfect!

I got back to nature for a much needed visit this week. It's been pretty damn chilly down here lately, so I haven't spent much time outside and I've really been missing it. I took a few hours (I actually totally lost track of time) and tended to my herbs. The poor little green guys have been looking pretty ragged with all of the cold weather, so they really did need some attention. There was pruning to be done and re-potting. I got a great planting of dill at the Herb Society meeting that needed a home. A couple of plants have seen better days, so I'm trying to salvage them by cutting the good parts and trying to get them to root. I realized that I'm turning into one of those people that talks to their plants.

To finish off my day with Gaia (Mother Earth) I went for a walk on the beach. It's been a long time since I've been down there (at least since before the holidays) and with all of the thinking about walking this week, it seemed appropriate. As always, I just love being there. I even walked a couple of miles.

I continued to obsess over doing the 3 Day Walk all week and RSVP-ed to a Getting Started Meeting. I primarily wanted to go and get some questions answered and maybe meet some people so that I could join a team. Believe it or not, walking 60 miles over the course of 3 days isn't the intimidating part to me. Raising the $2300 is what prevented me from signing up as soon as I started obsessing. My hope is that joining a team would give me the support I need to raise the money. Needless to say, as I was getting ready to go to the meeting I pretty much knew in the back of my mind that I wanted to do it. =) More news to come this week as I get my donation page set up!!

After the Getting Started Meeting, I was so nervous and excited that I had to sit down and relax for a bit, so I found a little dive of a restaurant by the water and treated myself to lunch. This was my view. Not bad, huh? That is, until a crow landed on the back of my chair. But, honestly, even that wasn't bad, just funny.

Finding the simple joys each week...

Made myself a little herbal concoction this week: a little dream/sleep pouch. I guess most people actually make these as pillows, but I don't really sew and I thought it would be more practical to use a pouch that can be reopened to add a few drops of essential oil or refresh the herbs at a later date. Anyway, it smells amazing!

On Friday night, I sent Scott off to work and had a covert cookie making operation going on. I made some sugar cookies with frosting for Valentine's Day, but wanted to surprise him so I had to mask the smell of baking. I masked the smell of cookies with the smell of apple cake. He loves apples, so I thought it would be the perfect cover up. Turns out, I didn't need to worry about it... he came home so stuffed up that he couldn't breathe. Oh well, there was yummy apple cake anyway.

In all honesty, this week was a little brutal with work, Scott having the sniffles, and just not a lot of fun stuff going on. Hopefully there will be more joys next week, but I'm grateful for the few I had this week!

Finding the simple joys each week...

I made a pot of Lemongrass (fresh from my herb garden) Soup with Chicken this week. It is so freaking yummy!!!

I treated myself to a Soda Stream soda maker. Well, I'm really using it to make sparkling water. I'll share more about it in a different post, but suffice to say: I love it!

I listed three new items this week in both my Artfire Studio & Etsy Shop! Again, I want to share them with you in separate posts, but I was thrilled to make such progress with the shop. Picture taking & editing has never been my favorite part of selling online but put on some good music, drink a yummy beverage (the aforementioned sparkling water, wine, or tea work well), and you get something brand new to list! I even got eight new hearts for my Etsy shop this week. Now, only to get some sales...

I took a trip to the outlet mall on Saturday and scored some really great deals at The Gap. They almost never have my size in jeans at the outlet, but not only did they have my size but it was in my favorite style. Score.

My echinacea was done extracting this week, so I now have a nice stock of echinacea tincture for when we feel a cold coming on. Winter isn't over yet!

Simple Joy Sunday

Finding the simple joys each week...

I've been doing more cooking than I used to and am surprisingly not minding it so much. My attitude has always been that I like to eat, but really don't like to cook. Probably since around Christmas, I've been doing a good job of cooking on a semi regular basis and making lots of extras so that we have leftovers. It's so nice seeing a full refrigerator! And the strange thing is that I haven't really minded doing it! Don't tell my mom... I'll never live it down.

One day that I was feeling kind of cranky at work this week, Scott brought in Chinese food (I've been craving it for weeks now!) and a Black and White Cookie (one of my all time favorites) to make me smile. It worked. He's such a sweetie!

I haven't really picked up my pliers much in the last few months, but inspired by the Fantasy Artists of Etsy Street Team's monthly challenge I created a new piece. It felt really good to have my pliers in my hands and be working with metal again. Check out my blog post about my challenge piece!

Taking a walk, getting some fresh air, and holding hands with my sweetie. It was so nice to spend time together. Plus, a walk & fresh air is such a simple thing, but can really make a difference when you're stuck at work.

My psychic friend Ramona that gave me the crystals last week, gave me another prezzie this week. She treated herself to a new deck of tarot cards and likes to give away an old set when she buys new so I was the lucky recipient of deck of Angel Oracle Cards.

Scott & I went to see Avatar this week and let me tell you: it was amazing. I was afraid that the 3D would make me sick (I am extremely sensitive and apt to getting motion sickness), but it was really well done and the CGI was woven so seamlessly into the movie. The visuals were gorgeous, the acting was great, and the message is as pertinent as ever (I only hope that it gets across).

I spent a good amount of time straightening up my work room. It's not perfect, but it feels so much better being able to at least see the top of my desk!

Okay, not only did I make my FAEteam challenge piece this week, but I also spent Saturday working on two new maille pieces and photographing a beaded necklace & earring set! I haven't had a day like that in a long time and it felt really good.
