A Mermaid Getting a Little Sun

It seems like either lack of motivation or rainy weather has kept me from enjoying the beach for most of the summer so far, so when I had the opportunity to go to the beach during the week (less people than on the weekends!) due to a shift on Saturday and the weather cooperated, I ran! There were actually a lot more people there than I had anticipated, but were mostly doing their own thing and not disturbing my peace. One woman was very busy when I arrived creating something in the sand. As the day progressed, this mermaid sand sculpture came to life. Isn't she amazing?

I had the opportunity today to appreciate so much that I love about being at the beach! Probably the main reason that I love living on the west coast of Florida is that I have access to the Gulf of Mexico. The Gulf has always felt tropical to me and today was no exception. The water was tranquil, warm, and clear. I must have seen hundreds of fish swimming by the shore. The pelicans that I usually think are funny creatures, today seemed so graceful as they flew synchronized on a diagonal. The sea oats danced in the slight breeze. It was simply a gorgeous day and so good for the soul.

what a fabulous sand sculpture. i'm so curious as to what she would look like in stages where the ocean reclaimed her.
glad you took some rejuvenating time for yourself, Warrior P.

Days like that are all the reasons I love living in Florida! After 10 years here I still feel like I'm on vacation every time I drive over the bridge... blue water sparkling with the suns rays and dolphins jumping in the distance... who gets to see that on the regular!? Lucky us!

Julie, I'm starting to feel more like a warrior again and it feels good.

Stacey, I didn't know you weren't from down here! I didn't get to see any dolphins yesterday, but that's okay. I've seen them so often near where I work recently, I feel incredibly lucky. It's always a special treat when they make an appearance.
